The first thing you should know about scary looking red wine stains on your carpet, is that it is not as bad as it seems and that all is not lost. You can indeed remove these stains quite easily. First, you should find a clean white towel with which to blot the stain (don't rub too hard). Next, find a carpet shampoo (or if you don't have this available, a dish soap is fine) and combine 1 teaspoon of it with 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide. Soak a clean sponge in the mixture, squeezing it half-dry and then blot the stain again with that. Blot it like this until you can see that the stain is disappearing. Then with a new sponge, use warm water to blot again. And with more white clean towels, gently and carefully blot the area dry. Note: it is important to follow this process as soon as you see the stain.
